Oak Framed Houses – Extensions
There is a resurgence in the use of traditional oak framing in new housing whether
for reproduction period dwellings or modern contemporary designs. Either way, you
can be sure of creating a characterful property to fit your lifestyle and the demands
of modern living.
The benefits of oak framing go beyond the aesthetics of a building. Post and beam
designs allow freedom of division and flexibility of design.
Large areas of glazing as well as full height and vaulted roof sections can be included,
giving properties a light, open and spacious feel. Barn style houses are becoming
increasingly popular for those very reasons.
We offer an in-house design service to take you through all stages including Planning
and
Building Regulations Applications. Fees for these services are calculated on an
individual
basis following an initial meeting. Our design team will carry out the site visit,
obtain the client’s brief and prepare a sketch design for discussion. This
outline design enables us to prepare a budget costing on the timber frame element
and can also be used to gain comment from the local authority on the proposed scheme.
The overall project and construction should be carried out by a local building contractor,
who would see the project through from initial excavation to last coat of paint.
We would be the nominated sub-contractor, and would carry out the specialist timber
framework within the main contract.
